Kinsgley Kondowe comes from Mwachiwondola Village, Traditional Authority Mwankhunikira in Rumphi district. He is a member of Chiwondola Fish Farming Group in Mphompha EPA. Mr. Kondowe started fish farming in the year 2010 with 200 square metres pond rearing the famous aquaculture species Oreochromis shiranus and Coptodon rendalli. His annual production kept averaging around 30 kilograms, he narrates “Before ASUD trained in aquaculture good practices through the GIZ AVCP my production was very low as I had no formal knowledge on how to rear fish”. Using the expertise knowledge he acquired through the trainings and regular coaching loops his production improved such that he is now harvesting around 150 kilograms per production cycle. He has managed to construct one additional pond, construct a new house and paying school fees for his younger brother using the proceeds from fish sales.
